Welcome
It is a true honor in welcoming you to the CLIA website. I have been on the CLIA board since 1999 and in 2006 was elected as the Chairman. It is my belief that we need to provide training and information to all officers, fire fighters and prosecutors who deal with clandestine laboratories. We are the only Association that is dedicated to the clandestine laboratory problem.
The mission of the association is to provide the best training available to law enforcement personnel regarding the hazards associated with clandestine drug laboratory investigations. With the added dangers of chemicals that can cause explosions and fires as well as short and long term health effects, we realized that there was going to be a new wrinkle to the already dangerous job of narcotics enforcement.
CLIA has been going strong since its first conference in 1988. During the first meeting we decided to hold an annual training conference in different states and keep the costs as low as possible so that more people could attend. Some of the early conferences were held with less than comfortable levels in the bank account and we were paying bills as registrations came in! We have held yearly conferences since that time and have expanded across the United States to Texas, Florida, Iowa, Colorado, California and even Canada, still keeping costs low for the benefit of those who need it most. In addition to the annual conference, we are now conducting classes throughout the United States so that departments can come into compliance with the requirements of OSHA, and police administrators can REDUCE THEIR LIABILITY by providing the training necessary for the safety of their employees. Our instructors are experts in the field of clandestine laboratory investigations and are either working police officers or qualified instructors from the private sector who can meld the regulatory requirements with the realities of the job. We are also available to assist administrators in the development of policies and procedures for their clan lab program.
It has been exciting to be involved in the expansion of the Association and be a part of a group that has become a leader in the field of clan lab safety courses. Please take the time to explore our web site and contact us with any needs you may have.

I would also like to thank the outgoing Chairman Tom Harber for his years of dedicated service to CLIA. He will always be remembered as a friend to CLIA and to me personally. Thanks Tom!
